I faced technical issue whereby I couldn’t close the exhibits. It happened thrice n in total I lost one hour time. They said they’ll revoke my exam. I copied some exhibits on my answer sheet and had to write short answers. Couldn’t copy some exhibits which had flowchart. Disappointed with technical issue however exam question was straightforward.

    HI Chris

I was also solving the same question from Kaplan exam kit and I have also watched your lecture and seen how to treat the bonus shares.

The answer for weighted average number of shares which I got was 43.4m however the exam kit has 43.2 as the answer.
To see if i can get any help, I found this post and observed that even you have got 43.4m as your answer.

The working from the kit is as below:
    1 Oct 34m x (4/12) x (6/5) = 13.6m
    1 Feb 37m x (5/12) x (6/5) = 18.5m
    1 July 44.4m x (3/12)= 11.1
    Total is 43.2m

I have no clue why 6/5 is being shown in the workings.

There is also a note in the answer saying the bonus fraction should be applied from the start of the year up to the date of the bonus issue.

The answer for EPS for the year ended 30Sep 20X7 is
    ($12m/43.2m x 100) = 28c.

Even based on our working answer of 43.4m, the final answer is also 28c.

I’m just curious to know why the working answers are different and also why 6/5 was used in the workings.

Many thanks Colin for your words of appreciation.

As you were away for a week, i hope you had a healthy break.
Good luck to you as well.

I will be in touch with you when i’ll be studying for Advanced Taxation next year.

    Thanks John.

I got the answer. i always used a normal calculator thus far and never needed to use a scientific calculator until i started studying for Performance management. while i was practising now i was just temporarily using a google online scientific calculator.

Could you please suggest me which is the best scientific calculator i could buy ? or will there be a inbuilt calculator for PM exam as we have for Taxation ?

I agree to your answer which should be “no more than 15 months after the previous AGM”.

In the question the last AGM was held one 31 Oct 2007 so i believe the answer should be 31 Dec 2008 (which is no more than 15 months and also falls with in the next calendar year)

however 31 Dec 2008 is not mentioned in the option.

The question i have taken as it is from the latest Kaplan exam kit.
