Passed first attempt with 69% and now an affiliate!!! I am beyond relieved!

I have to thank all the open tuition tutors SO MUCH! You guys helped me pass all my strategic exams first attempt after a 5 year break. I was so worried about spending lots of money on paid tutors but I was able to get by just using all open tuition and ACCA resources and pass without much more expense.

I truly thank you tutors so so much!

Ah I’m so sorry! Didn’t realise the last time for exams

Anyone who passed, firstly congratulations! Secondly, please could you please share tips on how to do so – especially if you failed first time, what you did differently. Also how long did you revise for/what kind of hours did you do.

I am sitting in December and would appreciate any help, many thanks 🙂

Sorry for the delayed reply, I took some time off before I get back into taking exams.

I only used open tuition as a learning provider. I also did ACCA past papers and watched YouTube videos from Hassan Dossani (plus whatever else I could find explaining the models).

My study rough study plan (I had 4 weeks of revision) was as follows:

– I got through the lecture videos on OT as quickly as possible, adding my own notes to the notes provided. This took me about 2 weeks. (I didn’t take any time off work in the 4 weeks so was fitting in revising before work, during lunch and after work on weekdays, and about 8h on weekends).

– for the last 2 weeks I did as many past papers provided on the ACCA online platform as I could. I think I did about 8. I have to mention, most of the time I couldn’t even answer half the paper and finished way earlier as I gave up. But I typed out the given answers (I know they are very long) as much as possible. I feel this put me in good speed of how to answer the questions and helps you understand what gives you marks.

For the last week I also went through all the important models every other day (like porters 5 forces, PESTEL etc.)

In the evenings when I was tired of revising I would watch hassan dossani’s lectures on 2x speed. I feel this way I was at least doing something even when I felt drained and he has some good points.

Just as an update in case people are in a similar situation and not sure whether they can complete the exam in a limited timeframe – I passed with 63!! It is possible!

@robyntopenn Go over the lectures of OT as quick as you can, jotting down your own notes, then go straight to past papers/mock exam questions and learning the standards.

If you can’t do the questions, just go to the answers and type them out. This will help you learn to write how examiners want you to answer.

I passed first time with 1.5 months of studying (while working) after a 6 year break of no exams and this was my approach.

Also, in the exam make sure you answer every question (keep to your timings!) even if you think you have no idea what its on about just write any standards and how you think the Q relates to it. Do this and you’ll be fine.

And after a 6 year break (exemptions from university) with about 7 weeks to remember everything again and learn the SBR syllabus, ah I am SO HAPPY
