England lost the final but at least I passed! Finally an affiliate.

Will write up my journey tomorrow with a fresh head.

You’re right – no recommendation was to be provided but the discussion about director comment was to be supported by the workings.

@muhanned – you’re correct but in the second part of Q3 we had to discuss the director comment about options whilst supporting our argument with workings from part A.

@no1lover – yep! I went with the same approach in the discursive bit.

Once I left the exam room I realised I failed to mention that with futures there’s margin payments to consider, so lost easy marks there. 🙁

Foreign NPV – section A (50 marker) and it was a biggie but no funny adjustments so it was exactly like the few papers I had already done.

Business valuations – section B (25 marker)(PE/ cash flows to firm & weird hotel rooms method). The first two method were legit and the latter was made up so we had to explain which method was best for the business etc. Numbers were straightforward again as I had covered this in my revision earlier in the week so feel chuffed here!

Currency risk management (25 marker) – had hoped the interest rate risk would be tested but the FX element was tested instead but no dramas my FX knowledge is just as good as the interest rate one. They tested FRA, futures and options and we had to discuss which was the most appropriate method as one of the directors viewed options as the best one! (It wasn’t when I did the workings)

Time management was top too – started with the 25 markers and was done with both of them on time and moved to section A and like I said earlier was surprised that workings weren’t too hard.

Fingers crossed – it’s my last paper and I need this to be a pass so I can relax for rest of my life haha

I felt confident when I left the exam room but now not so much – wasn’t a fan of justifying the ROMMs of an oil company having spent all week revising accounting standards to apply for an audit risk question.

Business risks was the only saving grace there.

Resit highly likely on this one.

srikautilya wrote:I had started this topic “ACCA June 2022 results countdown” on 10th july to occupy myself in knowing other finalists’ experiences and expectations regarding their exams. I wrote my last two exams SBL and AFM in June 2022. Regarding SBL it is my first attempt but regarding AFM i already wrote and failed with very long gap after getting 45 marks. Actually i failed AFM because i had underestimated the complexity of this paper. I thought that since i cleared CFA level 1 with around 85 percentile and preparing for cfa l2 means that i can easily sail through AFM. But it doesn’t happen.
After knowing about my tension my Manager at the firm where i am interning as Finance Intern gave me more than my usual load of work this week so that I had very little time to worry about my result.
My elder brother Sri Harsha Reddy Sagili became one of the world’s youngest ( at the age of 14 yrs 3 months) ACCA Affiliate in March 2021 by clearing his last two papers, SBL and SBR with 68 and 58 marks. He also started an open tuition forum topic “ACCA March 2021 results countdown”. That topic cloaked around 45,000 views. I think that since my elder brother passed his last two papers to become an ACCA Affiliate after he started the “ACCA March 2021 results countdown”, i will also pass my last two papers to become an ACCA Affiliate since i started the topic ““ACCA June 2022 results countdown”” and also wrote my last two papers. It may sound weird. Even if I fail also it will be with very narrow gap.
If we are border line case candidates, the ACCA results can go either way. I thought India will definitely win in its 2nd one day against England & England will definitely win against India in today’s 3rd one day. But both didn’t happen because neither team is super superior against other team. What decides winner is not team’s paper strength but what they do with their ball and bat on that particular day. Same is the case with ACCA border line candidates. If they find at least one easy or previously acquainted question, they can know before hand itself that they will pass the exam., otherwise tension will start to eat us one week before the result date.
Wishing you all the topic participants or repliers “all the very best positive result” and best internships and jobs!
Please also wish me good luck so that i may also become one of the world’s youngest ACCA Affiliate at the age of 14 yrs 5 months.
Thank you for participating Brothers and sisters!
Just around 123 minutes for results

Well that was interesting! I found I had sooo much to type it become actually painful to my wrists.

First question was about mostly goodwill, proportionate FV method and IFRS 5 non-current asset held for sale.

Admittedly, I feel like I lost marks on the pension calc and the guarantee.

Second question was about ethics (obvi) but it focused more on ethics than the accounting issues as the accountant was earning commission from issuing short term loans to a users of a gaming website.

Third question was about a company that owned cruise ships and the management did not want to conduct an impairment test (I went wild on this, IAS 38 is my jam)

Last question was about a company wishing to disclose its EBITDA to investors and the manipulation that comes with it…

Like I mentioned earlier, I felt that I could type more on each question but ran out of time and I feel like my answers weren’t good enough to warrant a pass.. fingers crossed
