Finally, I’ve completed all my ACCA exams. After 5 years of intense studying and examinations its probably gonna feel strange completely changing my routine where studying isn’t the main focus!

I’d say it is pretty much 50/50. However just like SBR the examiner can be pretty tough and question any part of the huge syllabus which can make it particularly challenging. I think this is a really interesting paper as it enables you to look at the full picture in terms of costing and tax planning.

Cheers guys. I ended up purchasing a kaplan study text and exam kit. I’m studying for this late so will be surprised if I pass in June 21 sitting. However its my final paper so may as well go for it and worst case scenario resit it in September.

Hi, This was my second attempt at passing. When i failed the first time i tried to finish the paper as quick as i could as i thought it would get good marks for each question. Obviously that didn’t work and so i focused on quality not quantity and on my second attempt really tried to present a good report in section A to the best of my abilities for 50 marks. I then rushed through section B and C for any additional marks and it worked, i passed. All the best with this paper!

The last 30 minutes always goes so slow and yet so quick! Text message nearly here to decide whether I’m miserable for the next 3 week or sitting in a hot tub with a Cuban cigar deciding my next move

Mine have come though from 0:02 to 0:10

So given what you have said it would be fair to say the earlier you receive the result the more chance you have of passing?

SBL was my hardest paper to date. Passed on the 3rd attempt but I remember thinking to myself where do I go from here if i fail this paper again? I think the SBL exam structure is a big ask with the amount of information you need to take in but I think the key is highlighting relevant information so you can quickly go back to it when answering questions. Very challenging exam.

Good point. I’m waiting on APM results and this exam has 1 of the lowest if not the lowest pass rates out of all the exams. No clue as to whether I’ve passed or not as you just never know how well you’ve done in these exams until the results are released at that highly anticipated 12.01 am on a Sunday night. The nerves are kickin in now!

Waiting for my APM results and hoping for that magic 50. Could quite easily go either way.

Thanks for that – fair point. I think the info pack should reflect what the marker considers when marking the report which would give students a fairer chance at passing. If the info pack would of gave this information I would of allocated the desired amount of words you have suggested without wasting too much time on part 1 and 2.

    Hi Gillian,

I have completed my RAP for topic 17 and is composed as the following –

    Part 1 – 960
    Part 2 – 2237
    Part 3 – 4303
    Total words – 7500

Are you suggesting that i will fail as i haven’t done 5000 words for part 3?

I have checked the oxford brookes info pack and it suggests that a report can have below –
    Part 1 – 1000
    Part 2 – 2000
    Part 3 – 4500
    Total words – 7500

However this is only an advisory and it also states that a RAP can be 7000 – 7500 words long and so i figured that i could have part 3 as a minimum of 4000 words in which case i’m 303 words clear. Please can you correct me if i’m wrong?

    Thanks

I had Finnart food company (50 marks), Finnon hair salon and then Taays company for the last question. Finished all apart from approx.10.5 marks on the last question. Really hoping for a pass but very time demanding exam. Had it been a 4 hour exam i would be more confident for a pass!

Looking forward to sitting APM in March but unsure how the remote exam is going to go, at least we don’t have to wear a mask! I sat this exam in September 20 thinking I’d cleared the paper only to find I got 40%! This is a tough paper but would rather sit this than SBL for 4 hours and having to read through countless exhibits

Thanks Cathy. I wish you all the best. How many papers do you have left?
PS still don’t understand why ACCA feel the need to release the results at this time of day given they uploaded them last week! Still cannot sleep because of the adrenaline of getting the results and maybe a couple of whiskies came into play!

Keep going Cathy. Agreed – SBL can be a nightmare but persistency is key!
