@thirthy yes I am thankfully! I don’t think I could have put myself through another AAA resit. It would have broke me!

Which two do you have left?

We had the same exam! I found it quite nice actually, I didn’t really lose my head too much throughout but again it’s a difficult one because it’s so judgemental. I’m just hoping the points I made were relevant enough to earn enough marks to scrape that pass.
Best of luck to you!

I can’t believe your exam was so late, especially after the disaster that was the last exam paper.
How do you feel the exam actually went?

Disappointed as I thought the 50 marker was totally unfair compared to the other that we could have had but it is what it is.
Been in a complaint with ACCA since June about the exam conditions not being fair with disruptions and computers switching off and they are saying there is nothing that they will do about it.

ACCA = heartless. I’ve been in a big complaint since June with them about the technical issues I and everyone seems to face every sitting and they say they can’t do anything about it.

40% but I knew it anyway.

Computer switched off half way through exam. Students and invigilators talked all the way through so couldn’t get my head into it. 3rd time this has happened now so I wonder when ACCA will pull their finger out and sit a fair concentrated exam!

Completely agree with you!
Do you feel like you’re going to be resitting? I definitely do after that exam.
I feel a little better though knowing it wasn’t just me that couldn’t really pick much out of the exam and it seems it was overly difficult compared to previous papers I’ve reviewed. Does that make sense?

From your previous comments, it seems you had a different exam to us.
Was yours about Home Co, Near Co and Far Co? Or was it the Dolphin Co question?

It’s just so frustrating, all the work you sit and put in for revision for a question like that to come out that doesn’t give you much to go on.
I’m preparing for yet another resit. This was my 3rd attempt and it’s 100% a fail.
Also my computer shut down part way through so lost my trail of thought and stressed me out even more. What a mess.

thirthy wrote:I think that the approach in this paper was different than the past exam papers, for example in audit risk question there was a disposal and not much else, what does the examiner expect, a different phrase on every possible aspect of a disposal? This seems to be milking 1 issue for 20 marks which felt to me the unethical thing to do as i felt that in previous attempts such an approach would have been frowned upon (at least based on my understanding). I am looking forward to examiner report.
From the start 3 possible risks were crossed out by the examiner (all companies in the group have the same year end, same currency and report according to IFRS) so you would have to go ahead and make up something else for some marks I guess.
Although I am pretty good with the computer, I found myself struggling in question 2 going back and forth trough 3-4 exibits to calculate materiality and at some point i knew i saw more info somewhere but no time to go trough 3 exibits again (which would again make me struggle to return to the more relevant ones while time is running out) so nevermind…
I would also like to add that many of us do not work on small screens or only with 1 screen anymore in the REAL WORLD (i have not worked on a screen this size since 2010) so if ACCA knows we will be sitting exams on 1 small screen to cut cost, then reduce exibit number. If you do not want to reduce the number of exibits, then less questions would be fine as well.

I found I couldn’t get any audit risks other than new audit client and asset to be held for sale if it doesn’t sell by august as anticipated. Then small bit about the fine provision.
Awful exam, ACCA seems really unfair lately.

An admin review is just a recheck of what the marker has done and isn’t a remark. It’s just another way for them to get some money out of you and it’s soooo rare that the result ever changes.

Failed with 35% and just can’t believe that. I answered everything as best I could. Had major issues on the day with the CBE. Started exam so late and had invigilator and students talking throughout exam. Just so upset and didn’t feel like I got a fair shot at the exam at all. Dreams of getting qualified are getting further away…

Not a chance on this earth have I passed this exam. CBE in Birmingham was a complete disaster. People were starting the exam in stages so had so many distractions in the room, the invigilators were on the phone throughout the exam chatting away to ACCA. Didn’t start my exam until 10:05am and some students hadn’t even started at 11:30am. When I left, the 1:00pm students were waiting outside, who knows what time they managed to get started?

It was so disruptive and when I finally managed to read the content and a question, a student would get up and move and I would see it out the corner of my eye and lose all trail of thought. My answers were diabolical. I’m so frustrated with how bad it went because I could have easily passed this exam. Cheers ACCA…

First attempt, failed at 46%. Only did 3 days revision so cannot complain with only just missing the pass mark. Resitting in March and am ready to smash it.

Passed 57% first attempt, I am shocked because the content of this exam is absolutely ridiculous! But so happy I got it done.

Think you had to mention to add degrouping charge to the sales proceeds as NGNL transfer was made within 6 years of sale.

What did people write about sole trader keeping his building on incorporation? I said that the incorporation relief didn’t apply anymore but not sure if that’s right :/

I put the same!!

Guys what have you written for Chargeable gain implications in respect of sale of subsidiary?

Degrouping charge added onto the sale proceeds but gain will probably be exempt under SSE

Well that was absolutely awful.
Why is it when you leave the exam room you all of a sudden know exactly what the question was asking but when you’re in there you just have a brain fart!!

Oh no. After reading all these comments I don’t feel as though I have written professionally enough or covered enough area to obtain a pass. Everything I commented on was pretty obvious and basic and definitely didn’t write enough about the audit risks. I really struggled to find them. Ethics was fairly straightforward but now I’m questioning whether I did that well enough!
