Hi, I’ve sat two exams from the start and I actually sat AFM and ATX together in Dec 2019.

I personally didn’t bother much with the text books and instead did lectures however had a couple days on ATX then a couple of days on AFM. I would definitely say for AFM watch the Opentuition lectures as they really help and can give insight into the exam then do as many questions as you can from the exam kits.

ATX has a lot more to learn than AFM so maybe have an extra day on TX than FM.

I’ve been trying to book my final exam (SBL) but been struggling, when I go to book it says “No exams are currently available in planner for your chosen exam session as either the session is not yet open to accept bookings, or you have no exams available to book”

Contacted ACCA but obviously takes a while for them to get back, just wondering if anyone else had that problem and if so how did you resolve it?

Passed 55%! So happy I did as I didn’t answer one of the questions so for sure thought it was a fail.

Passed 53%, 6th attempt after numerous 49%! So happy it’s finally done with and I can sit my final exam.

For those who haven’t passed, don’t loose hope! I’m proof that if you stick at it you’ll eventually get the pass

There’s only a limit on Strategic Professional exams and it is 7 years.

It depends on what area of accountancy the person is working in. In practice the majority take ATX and AAA. Based on class sizes at Kaplan these are most popular (my ATX class was full – around 30ish maybe, AAA also looked quite full compared to 4 in my AFM class and APM not even offered at the time I was studying)

I did F6 and F8 together, it’s a lot of theory to learn though, hence why the a more numbers/calcs based exam is recomended with them if you’re taking two.
I studied them both and did the exam together though.

If you’re doing one in December then one in March you don’t need to study them both together just focus on the one then move onto the next after the exam.

I sat two exams on the same day in March so it is possible as long as you get one AM sitting and one PM sitting at the same centre.

Personally I wouldn’t advise it as it’s a long day to try and stay focussed with a very short break in between.

Personally I wouldn’t go out and buy a mac or ipad or anything purely to study. I’ve always done my studying with paper and pencil and listened to lectures. As long as you’ve got something decent to watch the lectures on and the books then you’re all set.
It is beneficial to have a computer or something available to do mocks so you can get used to the layout and how the system works for the exam.

Actually Kaplan and similar are sticking to their original timetable – at least for now, I’ve just started a live online course with them ad is continuing as normal.

Having the extra time to study is a blessing but also a curse. You get more time to study so can take your time and really get to grips with the information and do more questions etc to ensure you get a high mark however may loose motivation to do so over a long period of time. Doing the second course could help keep your motivation as you have more to do so it’s not as repetitive.

Maybe wait and see what your results are, hopefully a pass in which case look at another course.

There’s study texts/exam kits available to purchase, see the buying and selling forum as someone may be selling them cheaper than if bought new.

I completed my AAT around 2 years ago and went straight into my ACCA studies. I’ve been doing 2 sitting every six months and cope with this quite well, only failing one exam ( I sat FM with SBR and neglected FM).

Personally I would say either do 2 every six months or 1 ever sitting just purely because it is a demanding qualification and you’ll most likely burn out.

I know you want to get the qualification done as soon as possible but it’s a marathon not a sprint.

Also, if you’re wanting to do the Oxford Brookes then you not only have to pass but have to pass well.

Thought the exam was alright however ran out of time. Really don’t like the format of CBE, lost a lot of time clicking through everything, definitely would’ve preferred it as paper.

Arriving an hour before the exam gives time for computers to be allocated and means you’re not rushing around and can relax/last minute revision before the exam.
Some exam centres do get really busy so they do need the time to get everyone in and allocated seats – they’ll call you in around 10 minutes before the exam to go through rules etc anyway. I’ve arrived 25 minutes before the exam nice when I was running late and got my allocated seat around 2 minutes before the exam started.

Personally 40 minutes before the exam should be ample time to be allocated.

ACCA recommends F5 and F6 together and I think that’s what a lot of people do as they’re well suited.

I did F6 and F8 together and found it totally manageable however there is a lot of theory to learn for both so I personally wouldn’t recommend it.

I sat FM with ATX in December – admittedly I failed FM again however that was due to making silly mistakes and therefore losing marks. You weren’t too far off a pass meaning you have the knowledge there.

Don’t worry about doing the ethics module beforehand, I still haven’t done mine yet and have passed 2/4 professional papers so far.

I think it’s perfectly doable as long as you don’t spend ages on one and neglect the other.

Failed for 3rd time with 47%. Only got SBL left but can’t do that until I pass FM – on an apprenticeship where SBL has to be last as part of EPA.

If you passed SBL but not audit you’d just need to resit Audit before/at the same time as your next exam.

If you can’t find what you’re looking for I have the 2019 F8 book I could send you for cheaper – I know it’s not the most up to date but could save some money as I don’t think there’s been much changed in the syllabus

I started studying in the April for June sitting and used the Kaplan sets (study text, exam kit ect).
I’m not sure how it’ll fit in with your daughter as I know she’d need a lot of your time but whilst I was studying for my two I was also fundraising for an charity overseas project (which I went on just before sitting my exam so was two weeks of no study).

I think as long as you’re motivated and can put the work in then you should be fine but if you feel you may struggle for time then just do the one.
You could always try doing the two and if closer to the exam you feel you can’t do it then defer one to the next sitting.

That was horrendous for me, definitely a March resit unfortunately.
3rd time taking the exam and this was the worst one.
Agree section C wasn’t too bad.
I did the NPV over 10 years but that was a last minute decision.

I work full time and have always done two exams at once however not in that combination – I did AA with TX and PM & FR together but FR and AA compliment each other so you should be fine.

It is a lot of work but if you’re determined then go for it.

I got the same as in the example. If you read the notes below it, it does explain why. What you haven’t taken into account is that the £500 takes up part of the basic rate allowance therefore £2650 would be at 40%.

Also in future this is more likely an ask the tutor question and so you’d be better off using the tutor forums to ensure they see them.
